dwelling in the sky were two celestial spheres
rotating, one revolution a year
of the two, one was brilliant
its light chasing all fear
the other was pale, pulling dark near
his was a love of beauty, consistent
hers was still love, but through a heart distant
he promised forever to follow her song
she left trails of stars to help him along
he did what he said matching her, waiting
and his persistence though true, she found irritating
argue they would, sunrise and sunset creating
they fought with vivid colors, the clouds instigating
she’d lash out with black from across her horizon
pushing him away from the dark that she hides in
he’d fight back with yellow, holding her with gold
his last light of heat warding her cold
she retaliated with purple as confused as the clouds
who watched from the sidelines as her thunder grew loud
he spun then orange like a marigold in bloom
and at that moment it seemed that his victory loomed
but she sent out red for the love she deserves
and kept the stars, her reinforcements, reserved
surprised, he met her red and they smeared in the sky
they knew at last that their time had drawn nigh
she allowed his approach, he drank her love in sips
and when both came together, they lay in eclipse
